Unpacked - Godot Wild Jam
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
Unpacked was developed for the Godot Wild Jam (#24), a challenge of making a game in 9 days, following a mandatory theme and some optional constraints ("wildcards").
GWJ24 theme is: Family
Unpacked includes the 4 optional wildcards:
- Pet the dog: include "pet" mechanic
- Secret passage: include a hidden shortcut
- Quip it good: include a snarky narrator
- Watchmaker: include passage of time
Although the jam does allow use of public domain art, for this game the additional (not official) constraint was adopted:
- All assets in the game (images, models, sound, music) are original
_____________________________________________
- Featuring cute scenarios in a retro style inspired by the Nintendo64 era
- Adventure story telling, with several puzzle moments
- A narrator follows you giving hints (and a few sarcastic comments)
- Features some challenges for the 3D-platform lovers
Notes:
- You can pet the main character in the menu screen, by clicking and holding the mouse button over its head.
- The secret passage is in the first cave, it gives quicker access to the double jump item. It is quite obvious and there is a chance you find it before trying the normal way.
- The narrator tone is not the usually expected in a cute story, to meet the "Quip It Good" wildcard. The full version of the game will have a friendlier narrator.
- You don't get hurt in the game. Running out of time is the only way to lose.

After the jam, the following bugs were fixed:
- One missing wall in snake area
- Collision missing in last wall in the lake
- Teleport detection (going back from Level 05 to Level 04) misplaced
- Floor boundaries added under teleport checkpoints to avoid falling into scenario
- Corrected mountain background distance/camera range matching (mountains were clipped as out of range in levels 02 and 03)
- Music volume slightly reduced
- Gamepad presence not updated when gamepad is connected after game is loaded
- Gamepad speeds adjusted
- Gamepad in-game menu button ("Start") was missing
- Restoring a checkpoint is now ignored when there is no checkpoint reached
- Restoring a checkpoint inside the same level no longer reloads the file unnecessarily
- Wrong animation state when the checkpoint is a level transition
